一句出於禮貌的應酬話，聽在歌曲作家的耳中，卻可以化為動人的題材
鄉村歌曲作家 Ashley Gorley 有三個年幼的孩子
有一天，一位水電工前去他家修理熱水器
孩子們不但跑來跑去、干擾工作，還偷拿人家的工具玩
Ashley Gorley 趕忙道歉，水電工回 答說，「別在意，我自己也有兩個寶寶。」
聽了那句話，Ashley Gorley 突然發現似乎可以用作歌曲的素材
於是向他的同業好友 Lee Thomas Miller 提起這件事
Miller 也有四個孩子，非常能夠體會那種感受
因此立即建議，用「You're Gonna Miss This」當作標題
他們首先完成副歌，然後反覆推敲，把「故事」的場景修改了好幾次
最後決定用一個女性來當作故事的核心人物。
他們用鄉村歌曲標準的「三段式」敘事風格
分別說出沒有名字的女主角生命中的幾個「事件」
少女時代由母親駕車送她上學、新婚階段父親來訪、以及當了母親之 後，為了孩子跟水電工道歉的對話
而在三個「事件」之中，扮演「另外一方」的母親、父親和水電工人
都不約而同的告訴她

雖然當時她沒有發現，但她將 會懷念這些不同的片刻
提醒她要懂得珍惜眼前的時光
你將會懷念這一切，你會但願重新擁有這些
你將會希望這些日子不曾這麼快就過去
這是一些美好的時光，所以四下好好仔細瞧瞧
也許你現在還不知道，但你將會懷念這一切

人常在福中不知福
也都不懂得惜福，且不滿於現況
總希望儘早擺脫家庭、親情「束縛」
卻沒有想到，平安、成長就是一種幸福，
等到事過境遷之後，才來嘆息歲月的無情。
只要能夠擁有家人的愛、關懷
就是最平凡、最奢侈的幸福
